Just as I said somewhere before, the Lestrade Chronicles is among my all-time favourites and this one is very likely to score this high, too. It's amazing what you can do with words... I admire the subtle effects you can produce with them, and, of course, how perfectly you choose your words and balance them to achieve the required effect. :) Absolutely beautiful.

Beautiful. Your use of language is simply amazing. I love how they both came to like each other's favorite food, I love the strobe-like illumination of those brief scenes in their long life together. Amazing.

Absolutely beautiful! I'm speechless...this was so perfect...sad, but you compensated with their love for each other and how it grows and endures through everything.

Your writing is just so visual and like I've said, you do a perfect job of painting pictures, scenes, and emotion with words!

I've loved the longest night too! Sorry I haven't commented but you've done great with that as well! The angst, the emotions, and then that last kiss...

Did I mention you're a brilliant writer and all in the shades of Sir Arthur!

This was very lovely and I enjoyed how the "voices" subtly altered over time. Chutney and truffles, huh? Respectively, my opinions mirror Holmes' and Watson's: noxious and dirt-like. :> Pass the peanut butter!

I really enjoyed Holmes vision of Watson. I always like physical descriptions of the guy as there is almost nothing in canon. The last was paragraph was very beautiful as it reflected that first vision and overlaid it with even more depth of emotion.

The line that life is full of such accomodations really struck me. Believe it or not, that was almost exactly what I was thinking right when I go to that line. Watson can't speak and Holmes is losing his vision, but the way that you presented it, I didn't see that as tragic. It was just another flavor in their truffly life.

As always, great job!
