Yay. :)

Pathetic comment, I know. But I'm struggling with your art, and needed distraction. *goes back at it*

I really like the depiction of the "advance and retreat" aspect of their early relationship. Already Watson can read Holmes pretty well and knows when not to push. I adored Holmes subtle, covert compliment on Watson's eyes. And I thought it was a nice, very telling touch to have Holmes leave the picture out once he had shown it to Watson. After all, who else matters? Great job. This was so nice to read.

Oh, lovely! The little, very little, teasing glimpses ACD gave us of the boys' family background just beg to be fleshed out. This is completely believable and irresistible.

Awwwww... sweet with just a little touch of melancholy, but mostly wonderfully sweet. I love how they both found a little bit of their mothers in the respective sons. I loved Watson's indignation toward the church at the beginning, as well as his comforting of Mrs. Hudson. I especially loved how Holmes trusted Watson enough to open up, just a little, and how the portrait made its way to the mantel to watch over them for the rest of their lives. What a lovely, wonderful story.
