Fabulous. Not usually a fan of Holmes and Watson but this was so *right* how could I help but love it.

NB tho': hares and rabbits? Two totally different creatures. No way they could be muddled.

...Good lord.

Plot Bunnies.

Love the atmosphere in this. I get a real strong sense of place. The sun and the setting and the speed and, of course, the smut, are all conveyed really strongly.

nlr alicia sez: Oh, thank you! I appreciate that very much. I don't hear that often, so it's good to know.

Okay, one more thing. You now have me thinking about a SH/Rifleman crossover! "Beyond the fact that you are a widower with a child, that you run a small ranch, that you are left handed and use a Winchester rifle as a sidearm, I know nothing about you. And you, young man, I can only deduce that you dislike haircuts, enjoy eating pie, and long for your own rifle."

Meanwhile Micah and Watson compare stiff shoulders.

nlr alicia sez: AAAAHHH!! No! Stop!! GAH!

Stop teasing my "H/W Go West" fantasy!

But, lol! You're so right and I totally never made that connection before... gah! Must.Not.Think of Watson with a Winchester. Must.Not....

Who knew that cycling could be so incredibly sexy (although Victorian cycling costumes are a damn sight more attractive than modern cycling shorts)! I love Watson's naughty thoughts of flushed skin and disarranged linens and Holmes taking control of the situation and Watson catching him unawares at the end. And the promise of a hot bath. *purrs*

It seems that I have a lot to catch up on, but I've been saving your stories until I was in the mood to do them justice. Now it's time for bed and dreams of Holmes (if I'm lucky).

nlr alicia sez: lol! you wouldn't believe how long it took me to get that flushed-skin-and-disarranged-linens line right. My hard drive now looks like what they sweep under the sofa on a porn set. :P

YYYAAAAAAYYYY BIKE PR0N!

As the tweed cycling club would say; "Yes lyrca provides a reduction in wind-resistance, but also a reduction in style." Thankfully this story had no lyrca and plenty of style! I love some of the things you have written about the cycling...

"Holmes’s sleek form was so still as to appear motionless over the pendulum motion of the bicycle as it swayed in time with the downward stroke of the tightly bunched muscles of his thighs."

*happy swoon*

Seriously, I know it was a weird request, but I do have a strange obsession with Holmes on a bicycle. Every time it happens, I get all excited and jump up and down, and have to make screen caps. :D

"His wheels thrummed over the loose sand of the road as he coursed ahead."

Zoooooooooooooommmmm.... *wishes she wasn't sick so she could go out tomorrow*

Well, I will just have to go for a little ride tomorrow. After reading this, I can't not!

Also, random comment - my Father-in-law went to boarding school in Edenbridge. Very lovely part of the country! Very nice place to fall in the bracken!

Yay, thank you Alicia! And thank you bunnies! XD

nlr alicia sez: Ah, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!

And I totally get the Holmes-cycling love now. I had no idea how cool Victorian cycling was until I started doing research! I only wish I could've used all the neat stuff I found out about Safety Bicycles and tires and etc. Extreme sports Victorian style - v. cool!

Thanks for the great inspiration and Happy Birthday!

ABOUT TIME!!!!!
OH, my final dream has come true!!!!! Yay!
Now, if only you could do a soft Holmes/Watson fic in the bedroom.....in a moment of eated passion, when they have been lovers for sometime.....well that will be heaven.
Just consider it huh?

nlr alicia sez: :D It's in the works! If it's the one I think will be finished first, it'll be the sequel to The Musgrave Gambit so keep an eye out!

Oh , my. I love it! Competitive!Devious Watson FTW.

I think I'm alternating between bleeding my nose off and laughing my head off reading this fic.

“Are you comfortable?” he asked with blatantly false solicitude, “Because you’re going to be there for some minutes and it’s vitally important you be as comfortable as possible.”

In my dirty little mind, that translated as:

“Are you comfortable?” he asked with blatantly false solicitude, “Because <strike>you’re going to be there for</strike> I'm going to screw you senseless for some minutes and it’s vitally important you be as comfortable as possible.”

nlr alicia sez: LOL! Your dirty mind and mine think alike. ;) I'll try to get something a little more along those specific lines posted soon. :D

Wascally Wabbits! I just love the mental image of Holmes tumbling off his bike due to a pair of bunnies. It's wonderful payback for his earlier acid comments to Watson and that 1886 WInchester remark. I do admire the fact that he is consistently so amazing, but every so often he does deserve to slip on a banana peel. No doubt the rabbits wore cyber collars and were trained by Moriarty. Mwa-ha-ha!

This was so nicely atmospheric and, um, hot! And I must say, Watson's initial generous olive branch that Holmes would have won by a furlong and Holme's 'of course I would' response just perfectly demonstrates their relationship: Watson as instinctively kind and supportive and Holmes as one of nature's aristocrats. Watson seems to know that he can no more blame Holmes for appearing arrogant then he can blame a bee for buzzing.

I did cheer at the end when Watson snuck in the win. Yay! Nice guys finish first.
Meaningless trivia: the Rifleman used a Winchester rifle too!

nlr alicia sez: Ah, I'm really glad you liked that tumble - yes, "banana peel" is the perfect description! And, lol! I picture Moriarty going "What rabbits?" while a small band of determined slashers whistle with elaborate nonchalance.

Thanks, too, for the Rifleman call out! Yet another serious self-indulgence, I'm ashamed to say. I was hoping nobody would remark, "You know, no British country gentleman would cross the street to spit on a Winchester." I trusted the inherent coolness of the rifle would win the day. ;)
