Love the atmosphere in this. I get a real strong sense of place. The sun and the setting and the speed and, of course, the smut, are all conveyed really strongly.

Seriously, I know it was a weird request, but I do have a strange obsession with Holmes on a bicycle. Every time it happens, I get all excited and jump up and down, and have to make screen caps.

And I totally get the Holmes-cycling love now. I had no idea how cool Victorian cycling was until I started doing research! I only wish I could’ve used all the neat stuff I found out about Safety Bicycles and tires and etc. Extreme sports Victorian style – v. cool!

I think I’m alternating between bleeding my nose off and laughing my head off reading this fic.

In my dirty little mind, that translated as:

“Are you comfortable?” he asked with blatantly false solicitude, “Because you’re going to be there for I’m going to screw you senseless for some minutes and it’s vitally important you be as comfortable as possible.”

nlr alicia sez: LOL! Your dirty mind and mine think alike. I’ll try to get something a little more along those specific lines posted soon.

This was so nicely atmospheric and, um, hot! And I must say, Watson’s initial generous olive branch that Holmes would have won by a furlong and Holme’s ‘of course I would’ response just perfectly demonstrates their relationship: Watson as instinctively kind and supportive and Holmes as one of nature’s aristocrats. Watson seems to know that he can no more blame Holmes for appearing arrogant then he can blame a bee for buzzing.

I did cheer at the end when Watson snuck in the win. Yay! Nice guys finish first.
Meaningless trivia: the Rifleman used a Winchester rifle too!

nlr alicia sez: Ah, I’m really glad you liked that tumble – yes, “banana peel” is the perfect description! And, lol! I picture Moriarty going “What rabbits?” while a small band of determined slashers whistle with elaborate nonchalance.

Thanks, too, for the Rifleman call out! Yet another serious self-indulgence, I’m ashamed to say. I was hoping nobody would remark, “You know, no British country gentleman would cross the street to spit on a Winchester.” I trusted the inherent coolness of the rifle would win the day.

And I thought today was going to be a total write-off. Thank you for proving me wrong.
