Okay, this was weird...ly wonderful! Your awesome ability to draw atmosphere with words - helped along, in my case, by sound effects - two cats mating somewhere in my neighbor's garden, right as I got to the hot, sticky part with Watson 'marking' Holmes. I begin to think you are aligned with the dark forces...how else to explain it?

I feel outnumbered here - I'm more of a dog person, and Holmes as cat-person does not really 'send' me - but Watson's primal possessiveness - and the part where Holmes says "This is not how I imagined this conversation" - the wealth of feeling and the implication that he has indeed been imagining it - oh, just perfect.

Stopping now, before I become completely incoherent. Except to say, "More, please."

nlr alicia sez: ^_^ thank you so much!

Yes, please keep going! See, i love bad lighting fic. The atmosphere here is great. I kept expecting Heathcliff to storm in. The action and intensity here is really well paced and very exciting. It's great, tense read. I had no idea what was coming. I actually don't find were-kitties too much stranger than insane moor-puppies so I don't think this is quite crackfic. Maybe 7% fic? :>

I have to say that the details of the quick healing and the kitten eyes were great to have. Every supernatural world needs rules and you worked them in beautifully! So please keep going while I go make some popcorn.

nlr alicia sez: oof. you've make me imagine a were!Heathcliff... now i've got *that* stuck in my head. and lol! on the 7%. you utterly cracked me up, you'll pardon the expression.

thank you so much for mentioning the kitten eyes thing - i enjoyed that very much and i completely agree on the rules. playing fair is a strict criterion of mine with the supernatural. thank you!

Who's birthday? Yours? Happy Birthday!! ^^

Seriously though, you may think this is crack, but I think this is ace. I lurve gothic horror, so this fic is much win. HOUN always used to remind me of the beast of Bodmin Moor rumours (which I think was either a jaguar or a panther) which were going around when I was a kiddie, so this + slash is like the fulfillment of a fantasy! Please keep the good work rolling on in!

Best bit... definitely when Watson tells Holmes that he's his. Bestial instincts, rawr! XD

nlr alicia sez: omg! i know - HUGE cryptozoology fan, me. i love those Bodmin Moor reports. i had planned go back and refresh my memory on those stories as inspiration. thank you!!

Wow! I mean, wow!!!!

The imagery you paint with your words is so vivid and awesome. And the story itself -- wow!

Possessive!Watson is so amazing and hot and brilliant and OMG awesome. And Jaguar!Holmes -- brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

Why yes, I am gushing. Why do you ask?

The horror element was fantastic. The strength of Holmes and Watson's bond with each other was fantastic. Watson's determination was fantastic.

I'm yet another humble reader begging you to continue this.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!

Oh, and happy birthday!!!!!

nlr alicia sez:oh my gosh you give me such joy - thank you infinitely. i'm so glad you enjoyed the bond and determination things - you always pick up on the stuff i feel most strongly about. and the horror part - well, i hope i can keep pleasing you there - i'm really looking forward to more shrieks in the night. thank you!!

I wasn't sure I would enjoy this but....for the love of G-d, please continue.

I love a possessive Watson. And when he said, "He is mine" instinctively and “I’ll bring you back. I promise.” I was just a puddle of goo on the floor.

Oh, and a very Happy Birthday to you!

nlr alicia sez:lol! thank you thank you. thank you. and thank you.

Woohoo! I'm glad I decided not to read the back of the Corn Flakes box after all (as if, lol). Apart from being exceptionally well-written (as we've come to expect from you), this thing very pleasurably hits all my buttons.

cat!Holmes!
possessive!Watson!
gothic atmo!
AU!

I second, third and fourth the cries for a sequel, and I'll have to fight Petripuss for the place first in line at the box office, lol. This story is made of awesome.

nlr alicia sez: ^_^ ! thank you! another fan after my own odd little heart. keep the Corn Flakes handy tho - i'll probably keep writing.

I really really enjoyed reading this, as much (if not more) as you obviously enjoyed writing it. The visual of the whole thing is unbelivably beautiful, and the story has me in a grip to the very end. Can't wait to read more of this, please keep this coming!

The power in that struggle between the two, and the beginning part where Watson said 'he is mine' is my favorite parts. I can't help to be very worried for Holmes though, what will happen to him? Does Stapleton now has some kind of control over him?

If this is a movie, I would be the first in line to buy ticket. Maybe we should suggest this for a possible remake of the Hound.

nlr alicia sez: omg, thank you so much - the movie thing causes a particular glow. i'd pay to see that in spades! if somebody talented (else) did it.

and good observation on the Stapleton thing. you're reading ahead - shame on you.

Heheee! Great! Another strange AU Holmes ! :D

I too, am intriguied to know what will happen.
Will Watson turn into a lion? Is there a way of stopping Holmes from running around hunting small animals? (No wonder he's never hungry at daytime, then. :P)

nlr alicia sez: well strangeness seems to be a house speciality. :/ and lol! on the small animal snacking - mrs hudson would surely object to rodent parts in the pantry.

thank you!

HOLY.MOTHER.OF.RASSILION.

feckin a...this is ...WOW...Cripes! This is damnably good mate! Feck tell me there's going to be a sequel.

Remember I said you were good at painting pictures with words and conveying atmosphere and mood. Jez this piece is an excellent example of that...even with the hot bits! You're an excellent writer by all means. I see shades of Poe and Lovecraft.

Hammer rocks BTW.

Please tell me there's going to be a sequel or a series! You.have.to.continue.this. Holmes a cat person...so damn fitting! You could totally write an AU to the Hound!

DAmnably good mate! Cheers and many happy returns too for your b-Day ;) .

nlr alicia sez: LMAO!! you're a fan after my own heart.

I'm so glad you got a kick out of this story - i had far, far too much fun writing it and it was one of things where i thought, "Okay, if i'm enjoying it so much there must be something deeply wrong with it." i was seriously wracked with fear when i hit the "post" button. but then i always think "this is the one that's going to cause a sudden sharp attack of pitchforks and torches." it hasn't happened yet, but i'm staying away from tottery old windmills just in case.

and, yes, Holmes on all fours is a definitely a thing of wonder and delight. add a tail and... pardon me while i wipe up my drul. a series for sure - it'll follow the basic outlines of the real story but take some weird bounces. and be totally supernatural, oc - not a scooby doo in sight.

honestly, i'm thrilled beyond words you got such a charge out of this thing - i've been totally holding back on my Hammer Horror jones and now that i know i'm not the only whacko out there i'm afraid there'll be no stopping me.

thanks again - ( and for the b'day wishes! ) - you rule.
